đš Why did Dillon Danis get jumped? Islam Makhachevâs coach reveals what instigated UFC 322 melee
Javier Mendez has shed some light on the ugly incident that stole the show at UFC 322.

A few hours before Islam Makhachev dethroned welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena, several members of his team were kicked out of Madison Square Garden for their role in a cageside brawl.
The UFC 322 broadcast was interrupted by a huge melee involving MMA star Dillon Danis, who was also escorted out of the famous New York venue.
Viral footage shows Conor McGregorâs teammate being attacked by people from Islam Makhachevâs entourage, but exactly what caused the melee was unclear until now.
Javier Mendez explains UFC 322 brawl
Javier Mendez says Dillon Danis got beaten up because he was making fun of the Muslim faith.
Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team are serious about their religion and do not take kindly to anyone who mocks it
âThat guy, when is he gonna grow up? What the hell is he doing?â Mendez said about Danis during an interview with Submission Radio.
âHe was sitting in the fighterâs section and sitting where Team Khabib was to boot. I mean, come on, dude! You know youâre asking for trouble.
âThen they showed me videos of what he was showing, he was showing Ali [Abdelaziz] and Islam in a relationship-type embrace. Then he was doing things with a pâ star and Islam embracing. And then heâs talking crap on other things.
âWhat do you expect when you do that? You go and sit with the guys, and youâre riling them up with big, huge disrespect.
âStop picking on peopleâs religion, man. Thatâs what he was doing, he was making fun of it.â
Dillon Danis banned for life
Dana White blamed himself for allowing the multi-person brawl to happen at UFC 322.
The UFC CEO was offered the chance to remove Dillon Danis before everything went wrong.
He didnât take it, but White insisted Danis would never get another chance to ruin one of his events.
The MMA mogul issued a lifetime ban when he spoke about the incident during his post-fight press conference at UFC 322.
âI blame myself for that, actually,â White said. âThey came back and told me right before I walked out for the main card that Dillon Danis was here and he was moving around, sitting in fightersâ seats and not sitting in his own seat that he had, he had a ticket.

âThey said, âDo you want us to throw him out of here?â And I said, âHe has a ticket?â They told me, â[Jorge] Masvidal said heâs gonna fâ him up on sight.â I said, âWell, where is Masvidal sitting?â Heâs sitting six or seven rows away from Masvidal. I said, âIf the guy has a ticket, let him sit in his seat, let him keep doing what heâs doing and keep an eye on him.â
âIt never even crossed my mind, as stupid as this could be, that the entire Muslim Brotherhood was here tonight in the first five rows for Islam.
âAs soon as it broke out, I was over on the other side, and I go, âFâ! I know exactly what that is.â I knew it.
âYou will never see Dillon Danis at a UFC fight ever again. Yeah, youâll never see him at another fight.
âThey called me from downstairs and said, âWeâve got him down here, do you wanna press charges and have him arrested?â And I said, âNo, I donât wanna press chargesâ. This is the fight business, man.
âI couldâve prevented this tonight, and I messed up.â
