UFC women’s flyweight champion explains why she came to Joe Rogan’s defense after Ronda Rousey said he was ‘no expert.’

In a recent interview, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey criticized MMA fans and media. During the interview, she also stated the longtime UFC color commentator Joe Rogan was no expect on the sport.

“He’s not an expert. He’s a fan with an audience,” Rousey said about Rogan on the Bertcast Podcast.

UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina came to Rogan’s defense stating, “I see Joe Rogan as huge expert of Martial Arts, noble man, hunter, sportsman, and good example for youth,” in a social media post.

During the UFC 322 Media Day, Shevchenko explained why she spoke up on Rogan’s behalf.

“I’m for the justice. I like Ronda. I like her lifestyle being like close to the nature, to animals, like farm, and everything like that. She’s a great champion, but I feel in this particular case, it was not right to say those things, what she said,” explained Shevchenko.

“Joe Rogan, he is true example for the youth. He is a true martial artist. He has a lot of knowledge in martial arts, and he’s a successful man,” continued the women’s flyweight champion. “He’s very talented and it’s just not right to say those things. And I felt when there is no justice like, no, there’s something wrong.”

Rogan responded to Rousey’s comments and didn’t take them personal.

“When she said I wasn’t an expert, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. But, you’ve got to understand why she thinks like that, because she has a f***ing champion mentality,” he said. “I get it, it’s totally fine.”
