However, MMA’s premier promotion has chosen to back it up with a super fight co-main event.

Two of the very best female fighters of all time will go to war for the flyweight title on Saturday night.

The Bloody Elbow writers are divided on who’ll win when Valentina Shevchenko and Zhang Weili face off at UFC 322.

Who will win the UFC 322 co-main event?

Jordan Ellis: “I think the UFC 322 co-main event could devolve into a grappling match. Ultimately, two of the best strikers in WMMA will cancel each other out on the feet. Ultimately, Valentina Shevchenko‘s size advantage will allow her to win a grappling match against Zhang Weili.”

PREDICTION: VALENTINA SHEVCHENKO BY DECISION

Donagh Corby: “Valentina Shevchenko and Weili Zhang’s respective styles are quite likely to cancel each other out, but I see the natural size advantage helping the champion to retain her title and Zhang head back down to strawweight for a unification with Mackenzie Dern.”

PREDICTION: VALENTINA SHEVCHENKO BY DECISION

Jamie Theodosi: “Shevchenko vs Weili is arguably the most exciting women’s fight we’ve had in years. Valentina has the skillset to point fight her at distance as well as mixing in some wrestling. Zhang is a rapid striker, though, and if she can close the distance well, she may be able to cause the champion problems.”

PREDICTION: VALENTINA SHEVCHENKO BY DECISION

Ross Markey: “It really is a chess match between two of the sport’s very best in their respective games, but Valentina Shevchenko’s size and sharpness on the feet — considering her past at bantamweight may prove the deciding factor in her clash with Weili Zhang. Struggling with the onslaught of Rose Namajunas so far in the Octagon, Weili has, however, toppled another dominant striker in the form of Joanna Jedrzejczyk. I’m picking Weili to ride out a hard-fought decision win over Shevchenko.”

PREDICTION: ZHANG WEILI BY DECISION

Harvey Leonard: “Zhang Weili can never be counted out, but in these situations, it is always difficult to back against the bigger fighter, especially when Weili is not only moving up in weight but doing so against the flyweight division’s clear greatest of all time. As long as she avoids the kind of unforced error that set up her shock defeat to Alexa Grasso, I can see Valentina Shevchenko using her size advantage to grind out a potentially unentertaining decision victory.”

PREDICTION: VALENTINA SHEVCHENKO BY DECISION

Chris De Santiago: “Zhang Weili has incredible takedown defense, as shown in her last title defense against Tatiana Suarez, a great wrestler who is 1 for 15 on takedown attempts. I have a hard time believing Shevchenko gets down Zhang, and in the striking department, I give the edge to what should be a faster Zhang, whose volume should pay dividends across five rounds.”
